Heritage (Part V of VI)

So, the question lingers…do we have a love for God which exudes obedience or do we basically obey ourselves? It should bother us that President Obama said that we are no longer a Christian nation. I am somewhat inclined to agree with him, but with a different perspective. President Obama sees our nation as a melting pot of ideas, principles, and theologies in which none of these individually are the standard by which we live. Instead, we live according to what we collectively want and/or think is right. On the surface, this seems reasonable. It is the expression of the “feel-good generation.” Whatever feels good and right within our realm is what we live by. However, there is another factor to consider. That factor is our submission to the principles, truths, and commands of God: obedience. It is from thus that we originated as a nation with a Judeo-Christian heritage into the most blessed nation on earth. Yet, to keep from being called judgmental or intolerant we have forsaken God’s ways. Now, we have our own ways…“every way of a man seems good to him.” (Proverbs 21:2) Little by little our Judeo-Christian principles have been replaced by secular values and considerations. As long as the collective people deem it good, we’ve become tolerant in a disobedient manner of about anything and everything, even if it is an abomination to God.
